AKRON, Ohio -- Two adults and two children died after an overnight house fire Saturday in Akron, according to Akron Mayor Dan Horrigan

One adult and one child survived the fire and are being treated for their injuries, he said.

The fire occurred around 1:30 a.m. in the 200 block of Tallmadge Avenue, according to the Akron Fire Department.

The four who died included a father and his two children, according to WKYC. Their relationship with the other adult who died is unknown.

John Battles, who lives across the street from the home, said he saw flames coming out of the side of the house and windows.

He also said he saw a lady on the top of the roof.

Someone ran to a neighbors home and called 911, Battles said.

"My family, the Akron Fire Department, and the entire Akron community, are profoundly saddened by this devastating incident," Hoorigan said in a statement. "Any time our community experiences a loss such as this, it reminds us how precious life is."
