Cleveland police are investigating after a woman was hit and killed by a train on the city's West Side Thursday night.

CLEVELAND, Ohio - A woman was hit and killed by a train on the city's West Side Thursday night, police said.

Few details about the incident were immediately available Thursday night. The woman was struck by a train near the 9600 block of Desmond Avenue on the border between Cleveland's Edgewater and Cudell neighborhoods, Cleveland police spokesman Det. Reginald Lanton said.

The woman, who has not been publicly identified, died at the crash scene. Cleveland police First District officers are assisting the railway company while the on-site investigation continues.
