Brewnuts’ Shelley and John Pippin, Cleveland HomeGrown Heroes co-winners for Food and Beverage (video)

CLEVELAND, Ohio – A sweet congratulations to Brewnuts founders Shelley and John Pippin, who have won a cleveland.com HomeGrown Heroes award in the Food and Beverage category.

The Pippins, along with 11 additional winners, will be recognized at the second annual cleveland.com/The Plain Dealer HomeGrown Heroes Award Reception Nov. 13 at smARTspace at 78th in Cleveland.

HomeGrown Heroes celebrates the unsung heroes of our community who are working tirelessly on their start-ups, businesses, innovations and social organizations to fuel the economic development of our region.

The Food and Beverage category is presented by Dave’s Markets. The other Food and Beverage winner is Cleveland Kraut’s Luke Visnic (check out more on Visnic below).

See the Pippins’ story in the video feature by John Pana at the top of this post.

The married Cleveland residents left their jobs “to pursue their three favorite things: donuts, beer and Cleveland.” Brewnuts was born in 2017 when the Pippins’ Gordon Square shop opened and has become wildly popular.

Their concept is unique -- donuts made with craft beers from local breweries, and part donut shop, part bar with 16 beers on tap.
