MENTOR, Ohio -- Mentor’s third annual Safety Forces Open House is scheduled for Aug. 3, offering attendees of all ages an inside look at the city’s police and fire departments.

The event, which runs from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., will be held in the parking lots of the Mentor police station and fire station at 8500 Civic Center Boulevard, according to a news release.

Participants will have the chance to meet and interact with police officers and firefighters, and tour their facilities. They can see fire engines, police SUVs and other specialty vehicles up close.

Throughout the afternoon, there will be demonstrations featuring the Jaws of Life, the K9 unit and a drone.

Additional attractions include photo opportunities, equipment and safety education, third-grade seatbelt poster contest awards, and sweet treats from East Coast Custard.
