PREDICTION

Bill's pick: North Carolina 71, Ohio State 68. This is my way of saying I think Ohio State can win without actually having the guts to pick that. It certainly doesn't help the Buckeyes that UNC is coming off an unexpected loss to Wofford. But OSU has played well in this event more often than it hasn't. The loss to UCLA last year was a bit lopsided, but this Ohio State team is playing better now than it was at any point last year.

I thought coming into the year that the Buckeyes had a surprising win or two in them (also a surprising loss or two). Neither has happened yet. They had openings for good wins against Butler and Clemson, and blew it. The roster is fragile, but while intact Ohio State has the ability to be a solid team if it can hold onto the ball. That showed in stretches in those losses to Butler and Clemson, and in the win over Michigan. North Carolina's guard play will put Ohio State's ball security to the ultimate test. In the end, I think UNC's depth, size and pressure will be too much. But I also don't think this Ohio State team is as far off as I thought it would be at this point of the season, so I think this one is at least close.
