COLUMBUS, Ohio --Ohio State basketball just landed its second commitment for its 2021 recruiting class in the form of Meechie Johnson of Garfield Heights (Ohio) High School.

Johnson joins Kalen Etlzer Crestview (Ohio) High School as in-state players to choose to stay home. He is rated as the No. 71 overall player and the No. 5 combo guard in the class.

Johnson started to gain a buzz for himself during his freshman season when he scored 50 points in his second varsity basketball game. As a sophomore, he averaged 23.0 points per game and was voted as a third-team all-district pick in Division I. He is currently recovering from a torn ACL.

The Ohio native is the second player to go through Garfield Heights’ program to commit to Ohio State. Current freshman Alonzo Gaffney — his former teammate — spent a year of his high school career there before transferring to Brewster Academy in New Hampshire for his senior season.

His addition gives the Buckeyes the top class in the country
