COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Ohio State football’s Justin Fields informed the world that he’d suffered a sprained MCL in the Buckeyes’ win over Penn State.
When he left the Michigan game for seven plays it was because he’d re-aggravated that injury and needed to change to a heavier knee brace.
No one has officially confirmed that diagnosis, but it’s clear that the first-year starting quarterback is not 100 percent healthy. He said he’ll wear the heavier brace in Saturday’s Big Ten Championship game against Wisconsin, and that it could limit his mobility. That ability to make plays with his legs is part of what makes him a special player.
Head coach Ryan Day scoffed at the idea of sitting Fields on Saturday in favor of more rest.
“No, not at all, no," Day said. "He’ll be playing. We’ll use him all 60 minutes.”
