The top 50 Ohio State football players for 2016: Nos. 10-1

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- A new season with 16 new starters for Ohio State football means we're going to see a lot of players we've never seen before. There's talent, but it's hard to get a gauge for how much until games are played.

So we're trying to give a representation of the talent on the Buckeyes roster by ranking the top 50 players heading into the 2016 season.

10. Cameron Johnston, P

Senior

5-foot-11, 198 pounds

• Johnston would be considered among the top punters in the country if he was on the field enough. He might be better at his job than anyone else on the roster is at theirs.

9. Noah Brown, WR

Redshirt sophomore

6-foot-2, 218 pounds

• Ohio State's No. 1 receiver entering the 2016 season. Brown finally gets to show what he can do after breaking his leg before last season.

8. Billy Price, G

Redshirt junior

6-foot-4, 315 pounds

• Price is gearing up for his third season as a starting guard. He's a first-team All-Big Ten candidate this year.

7. Tyquan Lewis, DE

Redshirt junior

6-foot-4, 266 pounds

• Lewis was Ohio State's sack leader last season. How much of that was because of Joey Bosa? We'll find out. It's possible Lewis is one of the more underrated players on the roster.

6. Curtis Samuel, H-back

Junior

5-foot-11, 197 pounds

• Urban Meyer called him the top playmaker on offense. Will he get enough touches to show it in 2016?

5. Gareon Conley, CB

Redshirt junior

6-feet, 195 pounds

• Conley is unquestionably the top corner on the roster. He could be heading to the NFL after this season.

4. Sam Hubbard, DE

Redshirt sophomore

6-foot-5, 266 pounds

• Joey Bosa's replacement. No pressure. Hubbard has been talked about a lot, had a good season last year and is looking for improvement in his first year as a starter. This could be a breakout year.

3. Raekwon McMillan, LB

Junior

6-foot-2, 243 pounds

• The top linebacker in the country? Maybe. All-American candidate, possible first-round draft pick this spring: McMillan is a complete player.

Senior

6-foot-3, 300 pounds

• Elflein is making the move from guard to center, and he can establish himself as the best center in the country. Will he be an All-American this year?

• He's the starter, no question about that this year. Can the preseason Big Ten Offensive Player of the Year be a Heisman candidate again?
