CLEVELAND, Ohio -- The former Cleveland Center for Arts and Technology Elementary School will see new life in education thanks to a local nonprofit.

New Bridge Cleveland, a nonprofit that provides youth and adult learning programs, has acquired Case Elementary School at 4050 Superior Avenue. The 66,000-square-foot building, which was built in the 1970s, is set to be renovated and redesigned to become a “state-of-the-art” workforce training center, a news release announced.

The training center will feature programs in the health industry in areas such as phlebotomy, sterile processing and becoming medical assistants and licensed practical nurses. The organization added that it aimed to make education accessible and manageable by also including onsite daycare services for students.

Bethany Friedlander, president and CEO of New Bridge Cleveland, said the organization was grateful to bring new life into Case Elementary and hoped to make a positive impact on the community.

“This building is critical for our continued growth and expansion in our health careers training programs as we’re at capacity and must expand to assist the workforce and state’s top healthcare employers,” she added. “Our hospitals are the largest employers in Northeast Ohio, and we are honored to provide well trained community members to join those patient care teams.”

In addition to its announcement, New Bridge has put out a call for bids to architecture and engineering firms to help with the redesign plans.

Interested firms can contact Friedlander directly at [email protected] or visiting New Bridge’s website.
