Buckeyes fans brave cold and rain at pep rally - and it wasn’t in Ohio

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. -- It was a mere 48 degrees, with a drizzle of rain falling, as Buckeyes fans attended a Friday pep rally ahead of Saturday’s Fiesta Bowl game between Ohio State and Clemson. The only thing that was out of place was that the fans were gathered in (usually) sunny, warm Scottsdale.

Hundreds of fans gathered outside of the Bottled Blonde pizzeria in downtown Scottsdale to listen to pep speeches from university President Dr. Michael V. Drake, athletic director Gene Smith, and others before turning their attention to the marching band.

The Buckeyes take on the Clemson Tigers at 8 p.m. ET on Saturday, Dec. 28 at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona for a chance to play in the College Football Championship game on Monday, Jan. 13, 2020. That game is at Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans.
