CLEVELAND, Ohio — The Browns (7-5) play the Jaguars (8-4) at home today. The Jaguars are operating on a short week after losing 34-31 in overtime to the Bengals on Monday Night Football.
Jacksonville also lost quarterback Trevor Lawrence to what looked like, at the time, to be a severe high ankle sprain. Lawrence needed help to leave the field. Less than a week later he may start in Cleveland. It will probably be a game time decision.
Meanwhile the Browns will probably start Joe Flacco at QB for a second week in a row, with Dorian Thompson-Robinson’s reps reduced due to being in the concussion protocol most of the week.
Starting QBs have been dropping like flies so far this season including the Jets’ Aaron Rogers, our own Deshaun Watson, the Bengals’ Joe Burrow and the Steelers’ Kenny Pickett which leaves Lamar Jackson as the only true starter still standing in the AFC North.
The Browns and their fans are hoping Lawrence can play today. Be careful what you hope for: Jags win even if C.J. Beathard starts for Lawrence, 28-21.
