CLEVELAND, Ohio — The Lakers picked Bronny James out of USC with the 55th pick in the draft, which means he’ll play for the same team as his father, LeBron James. They will make history as the first father, son to be on the same roster.
The Lakers picked Bronny despite his relatively small size, his average showing as a freshman at USC and medical problems stemming from a congenital heart defect discovered when he collapsed during an open gym.
It didn’t hurt that Bronny inherited a high basketball IQ and an abundance of athleticism from his father.
Most of all, LeBron James usually gets what he wants and he definitely made it known he wanted to play on the same team as his eldest son.
