The Lakewood school board's search for a new treasurer is under way. The board identified six possible replacements for current treasurer Richard Berdine who will leave his position Dec. 31 of 2012.
Kathy LaSota, Ohio School Board Association consultant, led the recruitment process. LaSota met with the board Dec. 1 to share the names of the candidates.
According to a press release, board member Linda Beebe is pleased with the results of the search, "The school treasurer position is a challenging one. It is sometimes difficult to provide boards of education with the number and quality of candidates needed to fit our essential criteria."
The board will interview the candidates Dec. 6 and Dec. 7. According to a press release the new treasurer will be under contract by Dec. 31. The new treasurer will begin Aug. 1 of 2012 and work with Berdine until he leaves the district Dec. 31 of 2012.
The board will interview the following candidates:
- Teresa L. Emmerling, Treasurer, Massillon City Schools
- Lewis E. Galante, Treasurer, Perry Local Schools
- Robert J. Matson, Treasurer, North Olmsted City Schools
- Timothy J. Penton, Treasurer, Whitehall City Schools
- Biagio Sidoti, Treasurer, North Ridgeville City Schools
- Kevin M. Staller, Treasurer, Nordonia Hills City Schools
"The most difficult work is to come over the next several weeks as the board narrows the field and identifies the successful candidates," said Beebe.
