CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Tony Mansolino will be coaching third base fulltime in 2021. But it will be for the Baltimore Orioles, not the Indians.

Last year Mansolino, the Indians infield coordinator, filled in at third for the big-league club when Mike Sarbaugh went into the dugout to be acting manager Sandy Alomar’s bench coach. Alomar filled in for manager Terry Francona, who managed just 14 games because of health problems.

Indians Prospective had the news on Mansolino’s hiring first.

Mansolino spent 11 seasons with the Indians as a minor league coach, manager and instructor. He played six years of pro ball after being drafted by the Pirates in the 26th round in 2005. In 2019, Mansolino led the Class AAA Clippers to the International League championship.

The Indians will return their entire coaching staff for 2021. Francona is recovering and expected to manage next season. The only addition has been DeMarlo Hale, who will replace Brad Mills as bench coach.

Mansolino’s father, Doug, is the field coordinator for the Braves.
