CLEVELAND HEIGHTS -- An independently owned gift shop that carries a wide range of products geared toward women and girls will return soon to the Cedar Lee business district.
Simply Charming: Baubles, Bijoux & Bibelots closed June 9 at 2243 Warrensville Center Road in University Heights. It is scheduled to reopen June 26 at 2254 Lee Road, owner/manager Elisabeth Gevelber said.
“I’m very excited,” said Gevelber, noting she moved into her new space June 16 and is in the process of getting it set up for business.
“I’m really optimistic it will be quite nice. I like the neighborhood; they’ve always been good to me here.”
Simply Charming was originally located at 2265 Lee Road from 2007-2009. Gevelber, of Beachwood, closed the business when she thought she and her family were moving to Arizona, but they didn’t move.
Last September, Gevelber reopened the store in the Silsby Center strip in University Heights. But there was “very little traffic there,” she said.
“It just didn’t make sense to stay,” she said.
“A friend told me a space (in the Cedar Lee district) had become available, and I thought Lee Road would be a good place for me to go back to.”
That friend was Shawn Paul, owner of the Shawn Paul Salon at 2265 Lee Road — Simply Charming’s old space.
The new storefront, formerly occupied by Cut Hair Studio, is about 1,000 square feet — almost double the 600 square feet Gevelber had at her University Heights store.
“It’s a bigger place, which will allow me to add about 30 new lines, (such as) babies’ gifts, kids’ gifts, candles, paper goods and men’s jewelry,” she said.
Simply Charming will continue to specialize in gifts for women and girls, including greeting cards, stationery, wrapping paper and fashion jewelry.
“It’s going to be fun,” Gevelber said. “We had wonderful customers when we were here before, and I think they’ll come back.”
Store hours will be 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday, 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday and 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday.
