Taking care of your caffeine addiction will not be a problem in San Francisco. Deciding where to go for coffee might be. Here are five of the best shops in town:

1 Sightglass Coffee

A vintage roaster yields the mild blends sold in this former warehouse with two stories of sipping space.

2 Ritual Roasters

This Mission spot is known for the Gibraltar, a cappuccino-macchiato hybrid that’s so precise it’s only served in-house in a special glass.

Four Barrel

3 Blue Bottle

Of the company’s many shops (and crazy vacuum-drip mechanisms), the best is amid SFMOMA’s rooftop sculpture garden.

4 Four Barrel

The snobbiest coffee snobs sun themselves (and sometimes eat chocolate-spice doughnuts) on Four Barrel’s wrought-iron front patio.

5 Caffe Trieste

No Frankenstein drip devices here, but Francis Ford Coppola is a fan, as were Allen Ginsberg and Jack Kerouac.
