Check in at The Brice. Located right in the center of Savannah’s Historic District, this is the modern Southern belle of boutique hotels. First stop: seafood. Nearby Local 11ten is nestled in the Old Savannah Bank building and is the place to recharge after touchdown. Unwind at The Grey. This restored Greyhound-bus-station-turned-hotspot is a work of art-deco glory—and its Neo-Southern menu is just as glorious. Nibble on velvety fried sweetbread with parsley salad and roasted baby eggplant; the clams and dumplings are life changing. Wash it down with a seasonal cocktail of choice.
Bag it up at Satchel. Bag aficionados are in for an adoration overload at this boutique/design studio specializing in one-of-a-kind, luxury bags and wallets. The lovely “Satchelettes” will help you pick out a to-die-for bag on the spot or design your own. Everything is made in-house. You can even watch the ladies work their magic on the sewing machines in the back.
Taste of heaven at Chocolat by Adam Turoni. Stop by the flagship store on Broughton or the “library” on Bull Street for an all-things-chocolate immersion. Each of Turoni’s chocolates is made in-house from scratch (a mouthwatering process to watch). Try the Wildflower Honeycomb Chocolate Bar—gilded dark chocolate with Savannah Bee Company honey. Everything here is too pretty to eat. But don’t let that stop you.
Dive into the art scene Savannah is home to local galleries, world-class museums, and the Savannah College of Art and Design. Actually, the on-campus SCAD Museum is one of the country’s top contemporary museums and definitely worth a visit. Jepson Center for the Arts features an outstanding modern collection, and the neighboring Telfair Academy has American and European works.
Sunset on the Top Deck roof. Located above Cotton Sail Hotel and overlooking the Savannah River, this hip rooftop bar rolls out its creative cocktails and New-American menu with a side of stunning views. This is the place to kick back and reflect on a wonderful day in the city, while gazing out upon it. Polish it off with a trip to Leopold’s for homemade ice cream.
Brunch at The Collins Quarter. Styled after Melbourne’s chic restaurant scene, the food here is local, farm-to-table—and the brunch menu will blow your mind. Begin your final day over a leisurely “Aussie Brekkie” (chorizo, beans, eggs) or delish smashed avocado toast. Pair it with one of their famous lavender lattes.
Head for Tybee Island. It’s 20 minutes away–yet a world away. The deep-blue water, clean beaches, and rolling waves of Tybee make for the idyllic getaway. Stop along the way at The Wyld Dock Bar for a quick cocktail, then on to explore the warm sands, cute seafood eateries, and quirky boutiques of this enchanting, artsy island.
