Train journeys have long been associated with romance and glamour, from the tall tales of mystery and gossip on The Venice Simplon-Orient-Express to the double-decker delight that is the Riviera Railway. But few are as storied as the Belmond Royal Scotsman train, which whizzes through the Scottish highlands, weaving between munros, castles, and bridges.

From spring 2023, the train route will be more sophisticated than ever. Belmond has teamed up with Parfums Christian Dior to create the Dior Spa Royal Scotsman: a carriage completely dedicated to wellness. Inspired by Christian Dior’s love of Scotland, the new spa is designed to be a luxurious cocoon of serenity on the rails.

There will be a bespoke wellbeing menu on board, including three tailor-made treatments devised by Dior’s wellness experts. Try the D-Travel body massage to relieve the stress and tensions of traveling, or the D-Elements full body treatment, which uses products inspired by the Scottish landscape, including semi-precious hot stones and a Bain Dior body mist, evocative of Scotland’s calming drifting mists. The D-Highlands treatment is a facial—a rejuvenating, sculpting experience helping to encourage on-the-go restoration and revival.

The two lacquered treatment rooms have been completely decked out for the occasion, with walls covered in the famous burgundy Toile de Jouy. Guests can soak in the elegant interiors, or daydream as they watch the heather-carpeted landscapes and lush green hills roll by.

As well as the Dior spa, there are lots of other exciting announcements marking the start of the Belmond Royal Scotman train's upcoming season, including a new Taste of Scotland gourmet journey, designed by award-laden chef Tom Kitchin, and a new Highland Survival Adventure itinerary created by luxury adventure experts WILDNIS.

The Dior Spa will be available to passengers starting April 10.
