Cardi B Claps Back at Joe Budden for Criticizing Album Rollout, Says She’s Being ‘Harassed’ by Him

Budden and his co-hosts recently indicated they heard Atlantic wanted another album from Cardi, who has yet to release a follow-up to her 2018 debut.

Cardi B doesn't want to see Joe Budden speculating about her relationship with record label Atlantic Records.

On a recent episode of The Joe Budden Podcast, the rapper-turned-podcaster said that he believes fans will "never get another Cardi album again." Cardi has yet to release a full-length follow-up to her debut album Invasion of Privacy, which came out in 2018. Budden's co-host Trevor "Queenzflip" Robinson said he heard something similar when he visited the Atlantic Records office. "You was right, too, about Atlantic wanting to put out an album," added Robinson.

Budden said that he hasn't heard anything from Atlantic directly, though, even if Robinson has.

Cardi responded to the comments in a session on X Spaces and accused Robinson and Budden of "lying" about her situation. "You not getting information on me," she shared. "Every five-six months you comparing another female rapper towards me, you compare new artists, old artists, every single fucking artist with me, bro. ... If you love these bitches so much, why are you not talking about their album?"

She said that the artists Budden and his co-hosts compare her to aren't even on her level. "You compare females to me that my worst records beat their best records," she continued. "I don't give a fuck about none of these bitches. ... To be realistic, you not worried about my album because you wanna hear it. 'Cause if you wanna hear it you can pull up to my studio session."

She said that TT Torez, the music director at Hot 97, has heard the album. "But you really want my album to come out so you can criticize it," she said. "'Cause every time I drop something you don't like it. Every single time a bitch drops something and they doing mediocre, you say they doing better than me." She also shot down speculation that her public relationship issues with Offset are a "publicity stunt."

"What are you talking about? The shit is in motion," she said of her long-awaited second album. "Merch is in motion, the box sets is in motion. You don't know shit. ... Leave me alone, I want you to leave me the fuck alone." She accused Budden of harassing her but made it clear if he really wants to hear what she's been working on, he's welcome to visit her studio. Budden was reportedly in attendance in the X Spaces chat, but he was only a listener and not a speaker.

After Cardi responded to his latest comments, Budden shared a tweet to indicate that he won't speak on her going forward. "I promise you and can assure you, i will not cover a single thing this girl does for the remainder of her career," he wrote. "Peace & love."

Budden had more to say, claiming he just wanted more music from an artist that he loves.

Cardi's latest update on her album comes not long after she held an X Spaces in which she implied she won't always be making music that leans toward pop. "I wanna let some of y’all also know that I cannot always do glittery, fun, female stuff all the time, you know what I'm saying?" she told fans. "I gotta get to the n***as, you know what I'm saying? I'm a whole hood n***a … Like, I have a gun as my dick."
