A Connecticut man has been sentenced to more than two years in prison on federal firearm and drug offenses, according to authorities.

Kenneth Joyner,  33, of Bridgeport, was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Robert N. Chatigny in Hartford to a total of 30 months in federal prison and two years of supervised release, according to authorities.

Authorities, citing court documents as well as statements made in court, said Bridgeport police stopped Joyner’s car for motor vehicle violations in Feb. 2022 and found him in possession of a loaded Polymer P80 9mm semi-automatic pistol, or “ghost gun”, and several bags of marijuana that “he intended to sell.”

Further, a search of Joyner’s home turned up a loaded Ruger P95 9mm semi-automatic pistol with an obliterated serial number, “marijuana that Joyner intended to sell, and drug paraphernalia,” according to authorities.

Joyner pleaded guilty in Nov. 2023 to possession of a firearm with obliterated serial number, and possession with intent to distribute marijuana. He had been detained since his federal arrest on April 13, 2023, according to authorities.

The case was investigated by the FBI’s Bridgeport Safe Streets Task Force and the Bridgeport Police Department.
