Start your morning by talking Astros with us

This week has truly been a lesson in the awful power that social media can hold. Thanks to a tweet by an unverified burner account, the cheating scandal involving the Astros has ignited into a whole new firestorm of chaos and finger pointing. With exactly zero evidence other than a few irresponsibly placed words, half the baseball world is convinced that the Astros are suiting up with buzzing band-aids beneath their uniforms.

Of course this is what happens when you cheat. There’s a lot of anger floating around out there thanks to this. People also want to believe stuff like this because it just confirms what they already suspected. On top of all that, Congress is now rumbling about a full on federal investigation for baseball, which is not going to be fun for anyone. Honestly, it’s a little terrifying to see the mob mentality spring up from the ground just because one anonymous person is trying to make waves. What a time to be alive.

Anyways, on to the potluck. As per usual, please feel free to bring any links or topics related to baseball that you’d like to discuss. Here are some questions to kick it off:

  1. If you’re a parent, how are you explaining the scandal to your kids?
  2. Are you reducing plans of going to games next season because of this?
  3. Will Austin Pruitt break camp as a starter or reliever for the Astros?
