Another week, another whirlwind of talk surrounding the Astros and sign stealing. This time it was centered more on the fact that Astros players have not been apologetic yet, giving a bland “no comment” on the whole thing. However, my suspicion is that any sort of apology will fall into the category of “not good enough” from members of the media and fans who are angry. People don’t really want to let the Astros move on from this, especially those who feel that they weren’t punished enough.

Former Astro Dallas Keuchel did offer an apology at the White Sox media day this week. At the same time though, he also pointed out that this is an issue permeating the entire league at the time. While I feel like the players should apologize to show they understand the severity of the situation, I also feel like any current Astros pointing out that others were doing it will seem like they’re trying to distract. The team can’t win for trying right now.

Crane has come out and said that the players will provide that apology once they’re all together in Spring Training. I can understand this as it is an issue that has affected the entire clubhouse and one or two guys apologizing won’t make a whole lot of difference. It was a team effort and players still on the team need to show solidarity when they finally stand up to talk about it. Whether or not they show enough contrition will be a whole other story.

But let’s get to the Potluck. As always, please feel free to bring any articles, pictures, topics, or whatever to create a discussion surrounding baseball and the Astros. I’ll get us started with three questions:

  1. Astros fans only: Do you personally feel like you need an apology from the team?
  2. Who is your vote for next Astros manager?
  3. Which non-roster invitee are you most excited to see in Spring Training?
