From the countryside to the city, I traveled on a 13 day road trip with my extended family through the Republic of Ireland.

We officially arrived at the seemingly boundless San Diego on a calm Wednesday afternoon and had the entire day ahead of us. Via a tip from family members, the Ocean Beach Farmers Market was our first introduction to the city.

But this is yet another one of those times when I’ll have to take a blind leap of faith and assume that it once again will be okay — as I did when I moved to Berkeley, then when I moved to Spain and those other small leaps in between.

Not to be a hater, but I thought for sure Paris would be overrated. Yet walking around the city, the Eiffel Tower hovering peripherally in the distance, I changed my mind.

While it wasn’t what I would call the typical college spring break — there was a distinct lack of clubbing, beaches and sunshine — I really enjoyed showing my family around this city that is coming to feel like home.

One of my favorite pastimes in Berkeley is exploring new areas, my favorite being Elmwood! A short walk from my Unit 2 dorm, the shops and stores of College Avenue are always so enticing and quaint — whenever I’m stressed out, I love blasting…

The weather in Madrid has been swinging between glowing sunshine and bouts of freezing cold rain with cloudy skies. The other day, the sky managed to be both and produced a double rainbow. The result is the most stereotypical spring I think I…

A few weekends ago, my boyfriend and I decided to take advantage of the sudden warm day that appeared in the Bay. We headed to San Francisco early that morning, riding the BART for an hour to make it to Ocean Beach at a reasonable time.

I didn’t realize that riding a camel was something to be on my bucket list until I actually did it — nor did I ever dream of watching the sunset behind a sand dune in Morocco.

Our version of a road trip is no leisurely affair. I’m talking about an 18 hour day, driving from north Texas to our home in Minnesota. We’ve crossed Montana in minus 20 degree Fahrenheit weather, stopping every hour to defrost various car pa…

My earliest experiences with doors in Spain came to signify that, perhaps, I wasn’t meant to come abroad. Now, these doors are merely what they are supposed to be — a doorway to someplace new.

The reality is that living in Madrid saved me. I would be lying to say that it was easy — there were still low points and hardships. As a whole, however, the city helped me remember what it was to be happy, to be carefree and to live without …

So in the meantime, I’ve been pondering on this idea of doing something braver than I actually am. In my head, it feels kind of like when you’re not sure if you’ll grow more — so you buy a bigger pair of shoes, jacket or pants — and hope that…

There’s something so special about returning to the spaces you’ve learned to love over gradual years of outings and spontaneous encounters — for me, that familiarity will always be reserved for Washington, D.C. Over Thanksgiving break, I got …

I had a wonderful trip — it was the first time I’d ever traveled outside the country without someone who was older than me to keep me company.

Marin offers a unique blend of nature and amazing restaurants that make it a perfect day trip destination. If you’re in need of an escape from Berkeley for the day, this is the place to go!

Sometimes it can be hard to find things to do in the Bay Area, however, I’ve got you covered with a variety of holiday events taking place around UC Berkeley, in San Francisco and in the Bay Area as a whole.

While the weather and gloomy days may seem daunting, at a place like UC Berkeley – with the cities of San Francisco, Emeryville and Elmwood at your disposal – there are plenty of activities that you can do to make the gloomy days warmer. With…

Whether you’re new to the Berkeley area or have been living here your whole life, there is plenty to do around the city and surrounding areas. I have really grown to love Berkeley and all the fun events it has to offer. I hope these ideas hel…

There is no way to analogize this event because it’s so unique. I went to Dream Cruise because like many Bears, I’m an engineering car nerd. But Dream Cruise is worth checking out at least once, regardless of how much you’re into cars!

This summer, I had the opportunity to live in Truckee, CA, and experience all the wonders that this area has to offer. From the best lakes, hikes and towns, Lake Tahoe truly has it all.

There’s so much to do in New York that a little research pays off. Alternatives, alternatives, alternatives.

In my opinion, as a Brazilian, Rio de Janeiro is the most versatile city for South American tourism. It has pretty much everything people look for when they travel to the southwestern hemisphere.

One of the best car-free islands in the world is in our own beloved Midwest. Ironically, it’s in Michigan, the cradle of the car industry.

From the hustle and bustle to the rational fear of missing a flight — such negative feelings are common. In order to combat these emotions in full swing, here are some tips that I find  helpful when traveling by airplane.
