Mom shares TikTok diary of how her five year-old daughter coped after being banned from using iPad

A North Carolina mother concerned that her five-year-old was spending too much time on her iPad shared how her daughter is coping without it in a TikTok diary that has since gone viral.

Stephany Faublas, who works as a content creator and recruiter, told Fox News Digital that her daughter Cadence Gray uses her iPad while she is busy juggling her work schedule, and her deadlines.

'I’d had an incredibly busy week working from home,' she said in part. 'I couldn’t give her much attention and relied on the iPad to substitute for my absence.'

Faublas said she 'drastically decreased' her daughter's iPad use earlier this month and replaced screen time with educational activities.

'Initially, I was nervous about her reaction. Screen time is addictive,' Faublas said. 'To my surprise, she was ready to go along with it. She didn't push back.'

Her daughter has been thriving and has already seen her confidence grow.

In the video, Cadence is seen using a number two pencil with eraser to practice writing letters in a workbook.

The youngster appears enthusiastic and proud of herself when she writes an uppercase and lowercase 'B.'

'Three in a row. You really can't beat me guys,' a smiling Cadence said.

Faublas recorded her daughter's excitement in the online diary - and way to keep her motivated.

'Her excitement to start made me want to record and keep the moment - just in case the enthusiasm wasn't the same the next day,' she said.

'I figured I could use this footage to remind her of her excitement to learn.'

The mom describes her soon-to-kindergartener's personality as 'bold' and since she eliminated the device she has seen her blossoming.

The TikTok video has garnered nearly 7 million views since it went viral.

Some viewers shared how grown up and advanced Cadence is with some saying, she is giving them 'class president' vibes.

For Faublas, sharing her daughter's journey has been cathartic - a form of sisterhood for the single working mom.

'It's astonishing. It makes me emotional to think about it,' she said describing some of the users as 'internet aunties and teachers' interested in her daughter's well-being.

The American Academy of Child & Adolescent Psychiatry recommends that children between the ages of 2 to 5, limit non-educational screen time to about one  hour per weekday and 3 hours on the weekend days.
