The window in my apartment shattered. I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw the landlord's 'solution'

An Aussie tenant was left furious after seeing his landlord's 'bizarre' solution to a shattered window - but not everyone agrees with him.

The disgruntled renter shared a snap of the DIY repairs, which showed layers of thin brown tape covering the hole.

While he admitted it was just a temporary solution to the problem, the resident said it had been two weeks since the incident and there were no new updates.

'My idea of temporary and my landlord's idea of temporary are two very different things,' he wrote on Reddit

Many were shocked that the landlord hadn't bothered to use sturdier duct tape, or even some thicker lining to seal up the hole more efficiently.

'Could have at least chucked some cardboard there first,' one man said.

Many people turned on the tenant himself for complaining, saying it was just a temporary solution and that it can sometimes take weeks to get a window pane replaced - especially on an older style window frame.

They said the tape job looked thorough and decent and asked the tenant what he would have done instead.

'That's his responsibility, not mine, I don't own the flat,' the tenant shot back.

People accused him of being unreasonable for complaining about a temporary solution after only two weeks, especially as it can take a while to phone around and get a proper quote.

'We can tell one of you have no semblance of reality or how anything works, and it’s not the landlord,' one man said.

'You selfish piece of garbage. Instead of actually finding out how long it takes a glass company to come and replace this, or even worse to have to replace the entire window, you just whine like a little child and post a picture on Reddit,' another man chimed in.

Others argued that temporary solutions sometimes stayed in place for a very long time, with one person saying that 'the most permanent thing in life is a temporary fix'.

A handyman recommended that the tenant take matters into his own hands.

He suggested purchasing some cheap insulation film to replace the ugly tape and use as temporary window, saying it would seal the hole more effectively - while also letting light in.

One person who sympathised with the tenant agreed that the temporary repairs were bound to be harsh in winter, and were also a bit of an eyesore - but he was taking a lighter view of the drama.

'What a pane in the glass,' he said.
