Andy Halliday gets married - as bride wears her mother's vintage shoes and throw a 'perfect' wedding reception for 30 guests at her parents' house

A Scottish football WAG bucked the trend when she got married last week, opting for a small wedding celebration at her parents' home rather than a glitzy do in an exotic location.

Influencer Jilly Cross, 29, and ex-Rangers and Hearts footballer Andy Halliday, 32, surprised fans on Monday when they revealed on social media that they had tied the knot a few days earlier.

The couple, who have been together for 10 years, married at a Glasgow registry office before heading to Jilly's parents' house for an intimate reception with only 30 guests.

As the director of fashion brand Dula, glamorous Jilly passed over high-end wedding dress designers to wear one of her own dresses for her big day, completing the stylish outfit with a pair of her mother's Chanel shoes from the 1990s.

Jilly opted for a white, drop-waist dress with a bodice and full skirt, pairing it with a cream satin blazer, also from her own reasonably priced brand.

In a TikTok post, she said: 'I'm getting married - surprise - and this is the outfit that I'm wearing so let me show you. It's new Dula, so that can be my something new, just registry office vibes'.

Jilly showed off the dress in another TikTok post, adding the caption: 'Wearing your own design on your wedding day is fun @dula'.

Jilly and Andy also shunned the example set by some of their high-profile peers when they were driven to and from the registry office in Jilly's uncle's black cab.

Taken together, Jilly's TikTok clips giving fans an insight into their celebrations have been viewed over two million times in just three days.

The couple's down-to-earth vibe was equally reflected in their menu, which included mozzarella sticks, penne arrabbiata and chips offered as starters, mains and sides.

The each chose a signature drink for the celebration with Jilly selecting Aperol Spritz and Andy plumping for Moretti beer.

After the meal, which took place at a long table in a small marquee in Jilly's parents' garden, the couple danced the night away with their guests.

For the flowers, Jilly and Andy chose Glasgow florist Olive run by Nicola Cameron, while Scottish wedding planner Laura McCranor helped make the couple's 'vision a reality', achieving what Jilly described as 'the perfect day'.

Speaking to The Sun, Laura McCranor revealed Jilly and Andy took inspiration from the 1990s film Father of the Bride when it came to dressing the marquee.

She said: 'Hosted at the bride's family home, the wedding exuded warmth and intimacy, surrounded by the love of their closest family.

'The details, from the decor to the personal touches, reflected the timeless charm and whimsical romance of the classic film and the couple's love story over 10 years.'

But while the wedding was undoubtedly homely and relaxed, it wasn't lacking the customisations which help make a couple's big day memorable.

Laura added: 'As for decor, we had custom napkins and slippers, that said The Hallidays with little cute lobster doodles on them. They both love the show Friends, so this was inspired by this.'

Fans of the couple were quick to comment on Jilly's wedding day posts, with a number take the opportunity to admire the couple's approach.

One person posted: 'Perfect show of love all round, so beautiful both of you, that's the way to do it'.

Another added: 'I just can't get enough of this wedding content - I am fully invested'.

While a third agreed: 'Perfection!!!! Never want this content to end'.
