A father has caused a storm online after sharing footage of a prank he staged with his daughter.

David Reidy, from Marton-in-Clevland, Middlesbrough, took to TikTok to share the clip of his 11-year-old daughter Scarlett, with the pair often recording comedy videos together.

In the clip, he wrongly told Scarlett that it was World Book Day and sent her to school in a humorous costume.

Scarlett, who David explained in the comments is a 'an amazing actress', dressed as an Oompa Loompa, which is which is famously known from the popular Roald Dahl film, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

The clip, which racked up over one million views, showed her looking embarrassed when she came home telling her dad it wasn't fancy dress day.

Speaking to the camera, David said: 'What's going on guys? Well, I'll tell you what's going on its World Book Day and my daughter is going to school as an Oompa Loompa'.

Scarlett looked disappointed with her costume choice and said: 'I don't want to be an Oompa Loompa.'

'Scarlett, you need to, it's the chocolate edition,' David replied. He added: 'So, let's see how she gets on'.

He then filmed his daughter getting into the car dressed in a green wig, brown top, and white overalls.

'Scarlet, don't forget to bring me a load of chocolate back,' David said as his daughter got in the car.

He then filmed his 11-year-old daughter walking along the pavement to showcase her costume.

The clip then skipped to Scarlett getting out of the car. David asked her: 'How was World Book Day?'

Looking upset with the ordeal, she said: 'It wasn't even World Book Day. I dressed up all day because of you. I'm never talking to you again.'

'But she's a strong person and doesn't get upset easily, she will just tell me off, like you saw in the video.

'We all love the Oompa Loompas, and I think she looks amazing, even better than the Wonka experience at Glasgow'.

In the comment section, he left the authenticity of the prank open to interpretation, writing: 'We will let you think is it real or is she a real good actor.'

It comes after an influencer who pranks her fans 'every year' by pretending to go on Love Island has hit out against the 'disgusting' comments and death threats that she has received.

Anatasia Kingsnorth, from Manchester, teased her one million followers on Instagram about going on the hit reality TV show that sees singletons 'couple up' with each other and compete to win a £50,000 prize.

The 23-year-old often gets invited by ITV to post tours of the villa on her social media accounts to create a buzz around the show.

Usually, the series has a couple of 'bombshells', which refers to people who come into the house during different points in the show and cause havoc by breaking up couples.

This year, the broadcaster offered the content creator the opportunity to make her own 'bombshell' video of her walking into the villa and they also took official pictures of her.

Anatasia captioned the picture, which featured her in a khaki green bikini in front of a flame in the shape of a love heart: 'I heard you're missing a bombshell?'

She then posted a video of her walking into the villa and said: 'Shall we stir the pot a little more?' the influencer then posted a clip on YouTube with the title: 'I'm going on Love Island!'

She decided to make this into a prank and told her family, friends and followers that she was jetting off to sunny Spain in search of love.

Anatasia has done this joke every season for the past couple of years and her fans quickly caught on to her prank.

Others accused her of being 'desperate' to go on the show, while others are frustrated with the annual trick.
