Former Finnish Prime Minister Sanna Marin sports black leather skirt and crop top as she heads to see dance music DJ Fred Again in Helsinki

Sanna Marin put work aside over the weekend and enjoyed a music festival with friends in Helsinki.

The former Prime Minister of Finland, 38, who gave up politics last September to join the Tony Blair Institute for Global Change, took to Instagram to share snaps from Flow music festival.

The mother-of-one ditched formal attire in favour of an all-black leather look, complete with a mini skirt, crop top, and trendy black boots.

Sanna, who served as the world's youngest Prime Minister and led her country to NATO, appeared to take a particular interest in English DJ and producer, Fred Again, and uploaded a picture of his performance to her Instagram story.

In another snap, Sanna appeared much more like a typically 30-something than a former world leader as she posed with a friend at the festival.

She opted for a glamorous makeup look for the fun-filled occasion, complete with bold red lipstick.

The three-day Finnish music and arts festival welcomed a host of stars, including Vince Staples, Halsey, and Raye.

Sanna was the world's youngest prime minister when she took office in 2019. She lost the general election in Finland to the country's conservative party leader Petteri Orpo in April 2023.

Last May, she announced she was divorcing her husband Markus Räikkönen after 19 years together.

The couple, who share five-year-old daughter Emma Amalia Marin together, were rarely seen in public together in the months leading up to their divorce.

Her recent outing comes after a visit to New York in April. The jet-setting mother-of-one took to New York just days after visiting Berlin, where she posted herself visiting a Holocaust memorial and the German Health Ministry.

However, her time in New York appeared to be a more social trip where she seemingly enjoyed lunches and cocktails with friends.

Taking to her stories, Sanna posted a picture of passers-by near Radio City, which she tagged 'NYC'.

The shot captured the essence of New York tourism, including its famous yellow cabs and sky-high buildings.

During her trip she also attended a 'working lunch' with friends, where she tucked in to a fish salad with leafy greens and an entrée of fresh bread.

Later on the ex-Social Democrat leader and two friends filmed a selfie video while walking through New York City's sixth-largest park, Central Park.

As Finland's prime minister, Marin was one of Europe's youngest leaders, and oversaw her country's successful application to officially join NATO.

Announcing her resignation from politics, Marin told Finnish broadcaster YLE that it was 'time to move on'.

She said: 'I am eager to step into a new role. I also believe that it can benefit the whole of Finland.

'I believe that I can serve those voters [in Finland] well and maybe even better in the new assignment'.

While many called her a millennial inspiration who encouraged younger people to be less apathetic towards politics, she was still a controversial figure in Finland.

Finnish voters concerned with issues like immigration and a growing public deficit in April handed Marin a narrow defeat to the right wing National Coalition and the far-right Finns party, triggering the government's fall.

She weathered several publicity storms while in office, including over her nightclubbing during the pandemic, hosting private parties at her official residence and voluntarily taking a drug test - which returned negative - after a party video was leaked to the media.

Marin was also heavily criticised after she was spotted at a nightclub in the small hours of the morning, shortly after she had made contact with her health minister who has just tested positive for COVID-19.

She was also caught dancing provocatively with Finnish influencer Sabina Sarka in 2022, which drew another round of heavy criticism.
