Jake and Callum Robinson are laid to rest on home soil in emotional funeral service after the Aussie brothers were killed in Mexico during horrific carjacking

Two Australian brothers who were allegedly killed with their friend in Mexico have been laid to rest on home soil during an emotional funeral service. 

Jake and Callum Robinson, 30 and 32, and their American mate Jack Rhoad, 30, went missing while on a surfing trip in the Mexican province of Baja California in April.

The desperate manhunt sparked global headlines until the grim discovery of their bodies at the bottom of a 15-metre-deep well near their camp.

Local police allege they were shot after resisting the theft of their truck. 

On Saturday, hundreds of bereaved friends and family gathered at a private service at the Sacred Heart College in Sorrento, in Perth's north-west, where the brothers graduated from school.   

Their devastated parents, Debra and Martin Robinson, fought through tears to farewell them and the 'pure love' they emanated in their short lives. 

'They loved life and they followed their dreams,' Ms Robinson said.

'They were intelligent, respectful men with so much more to offer the world.'

The cover of the memorial brochure featured a picture of the two brothers smiling with their arms around one another, accompanied by the words: 'live bigger, shine brighter, love harder'.

Callum was an accomplished lacrosse player who represented Australia and played professionally in the US.

Meanwhile, Jake was a doctor who was about to start a new job at a hospital in Geelong.

'We're not here to dwell on the where or the how or try to understand the why of their passing but instead to say goodbye to two young men and hopefully start the healing process for everyone,' Ms Robinson added.

'We love that Jake was curious, kind and happy — and never judgmental.

'Callum always made a conscious decision to wake up and be positive every day. He saw so much fun in life.

'We love that they loved every single dog in the world.'

Ms Robinson urged those gathered to 'find your own way to honour them in the way you live your life'.

'We have cried many tears and we will cry many more …We miss you beyond description,' she said. 

'Callum and Jakey boy, please shine on us.'

The heartbroken parents were forced to fly over to Mexico to identify their son's bodies after they were discovered in the well. 

Three Mexican nationals have been arrested over their deaths; the alleged ringleader Jesús Gerardo, his brother Cristian Alejandro and Gerardo's 23-year-old girlfriend Ari Gisel. 

In an Ensenada court, prosecutors claimed that Jesus had driven his girlfriend’s car to the area where the Robinsons and Mr Rhoad were camping and later ambushed the trio. 

Gisel was later stopped by cops on a routine patrol in Ensenada on May 1, when when she allegedly threw a small bag containing 100g of meth on the ground and tried to run away, Telediario reported. 

An iPhone belonging to Mr Rhoad was also allegedly found following an inspection of the vehicle. 

The two men were arrested soon afterwards. 

Only Gerardo has been charged with forced kidnappings over the killings. He is yet to enter pleas but his charges are expected to be upgraded to murder.

He will remain in custody until November when he is next due to appear in court.
