Accused serial killer fugitive Stacy Lee Drake snared by cops in Arkansas after 48-hour manhunt

An Alabama man accused of killing multiple people in Oklahoma has been snared by police in an Arkansas woodland after two days on the run with camping gear.

Stacy Lee Drake was shown grimacing with his eyes fixed on the ground while wearing a baggy khaki t-shirt and glasses as cops led him away in handcuffs in a photograph released after his capture.

The 50-year-old is suspected of murdering a man and a woman in the tiny town of Gans, Oklahoma, on Tuesday night, following two separate carjacking incidents.

Police issued a warning to the public about Drake later that night, saying he was on the loose in a stolen car and believed to be armed.

His disappearance sparked a manhunt involving several agencies including the Arkansas National Guard.

In a brief release, Arkansas State Police said cops found him around 10am Thursday in a wooded area more than 120 miles away from the crime scene.

They said he had been detained in Morrilton, a small city which sits near the center of the state on the Arkansas River around 50 miles north-west of Little Rock.

'Drake was taken into custody without incident after a manhunt that began late Tuesday,' the department said.

Police previously said he had bought camping gear in Morrilton and released surveillance camera images of him wearing a flat-cap and sunglasses outside a hotel in the town.
