Police have released CCTV footage showing the car allegedly involved in a hit and run which killed a 'loving dad'.

Emergency services rushed to Abell Road in Melonba, about 51km northwest of Sydney's CBD, at 11.45pm on Sunday following reports a man was injured on the side of the road.

Paramedics worked desperately to save the 79-year-old man, but he died at the scene.

The man's grief-stricken family explained he was visiting Australia from Nepal to celebrate his daughter's 25th wedding anniversary.

His daughter, who was too distraught to appear on camera, told Sunrise on Monday her dad was a 'lovely family man' who looked after his wife and children.

Speaking to the Today show, she also slammed the cowardly driver for fleeing the scene and not stopping to help her dying dad.

Police have released CCTV footage of the car they believe was involved in the alleged hit and run.

The footage, taken from a neighbours home, show a small dark coloured sedan or coupe speeding through Abell Road.
