Soccer star's own mother sensationally accuses him of unsolved cold-blooded murder

The mother of a Mexican soccer star has sensationally accused him of orchestrating his sister's murder.

Carlos Salcedo's sister, TV presenter Martha Salcedo, was shot and killed in front of her son on Saturday night.

In a dramatic Instagram post on Thursday, their mother María Hernández claims Carlos and his second wife, Andrea, carried out the killing and are now trying to flee the country.

The family has been at odds since Carlos and his first wife divorced. The pair continue to battle over custody of their child.

'The real reason why Carlos Salcedo wants to leave the country is because he and his wife Andrea Navarro are the masterminds behind the murder of Paola,' Maria said, referencing her daughter.

Cruz Azul defender Carlos, 33, seemingly broke his silence after his mother's accusation with an Instagram Story showing himself flashing two thumbs up with the caption: 'Thank you all for the support shown at this time.'

It is unclear if he was referring to his sister's death or the unfounded claims.

Maria, Andrea and a rep for Carlos did not immediately respond to the DailyMail.com's requests for comment.

Martha was walking with her son, Luka Vikonis, and her assistant when two men approached her SUV and ordered her to give up her keys and handbag.

A struggle ensued and one of the suspects fired multiple shots, striking her twice. Her son and the assistant were not harmed.

DailyMail.com reached out to the State of Mexico Attorney General's Office for comments regarding the allegations.

The family has been at odds in the past with Carlos distancing himself in 2018 from his father and sister during his divorce proceedings from his first wife, Ivanna Sigüenza, and the custody battle over their daughter.

At the time, Carlos was dating Navarro and his mother didn't approve of the relationship, which sparked a shouting match in court.

In addition, the footballer filed a lawsuit against his father, his agent at the time, for mismanagement.

Carlos stopped talking to his sister after he accused of cozying up to one his teammates on Club Deportivo Guadalajara to seek stories while working as a presenter for the team.

The siblings worked out their differences in 2020 following the birth of Martha's son.

She shared custody of Luka with former boyfriend, Uruguayan goalkeeper Nicolás Vikonis, who is currently playing for Club Celaya.

Martha's death comes after Carlos petition his Liga MX club, Cruz Azul, to facilitate his transfer to a soccer club away from Mexico, citing family problems.

Local media outlets reported that Carlos Salcedo, who played on Mexico's team at the 2018 World Cup in Russia, was looking to join a team in the MLS.
