An England fan will be staying until the final whistle at today’s match with Switzerland ‘even if the Three Lions have a bitter ending’ after walking out before Jude Bellingham’s stunning equaliser in the team’s last much.

Coach driver Tim Shires, 42, from Bristol, was one of the England fans who left the last-16 match against Slovakia early and also missed Harry Kane’s winner in extra time.

Mr Shires tried to force his way back into the match after hearing the roar from Three Lions’ fans that greeted Bellingham’s wonder bicycle-kick goal.

Mr Shires, who brought his daughter Chloe, 12, to tonight’s match at the Dusseldorf Arena, told Mail Online: ‘I’m not making that mistake again. I thought England were going home and that it was all over.

‘I had one foot over the line to leave when I heard the crowd roar and I turned round and tried to dash back in but the stewards wouldn’t let me.

‘I didn’t see either Bellingham’s or Kane’s goal. I was gutted, but it didn’t stop me celebrating.

‘I believe England can go all the way, but I will always have to look back knowing that I missed one of the greatest moments in England history.

‘I don’t think we will lose today, but even if we do, I won’t be making a quick exit again.’

Mr Shires, who wore two Flag of St George emblems on his head, said he had been pressed to leave the Slovakia game because of his job.

‘I was driving England fans to matches over here and was convinced we weren’t going to score so I thought I’d make an early cut to get to the bus early.’
