I went to get my phone fixed and caught the technician trying to send himself my nudes

A young woman has spoken out after she allegedly caught an employee at a phone repair shop trying to send himself her nude photos.

The 27-year-old New Zealand woman, who did not wish to be named, said she took her phone to a Mobile Planet kiosk in Auckland's Sylvia Park mall to get her camera fixed.

However, when she got the phone back she saw a notification saying 'AirDrop failed' with a link to a nude photo in her camera roll that had been 'taken years ago' to send to her boyfriend.

In a video posted to TikTok by friend Krisy Erin, the women confront the store's manager about the alleged incident while the accused employee watches on.

Ms Erin explains that to find the photo the employee would have needed to scroll a long way back through her friend's photos 'which is such an invasion of privacy and absolutely unethical behaviour'.

The manager responds to the accusation by saying he only told the employee to check that the 'camera is working fine'.

After the manager looked through the employee's photos to see if he had sent the nude picture to himself, there was a moment of drama as the employee fainted.

However, Ms Erin was not convinced by the apparent medical episode.

'It felt like a diversion, like he was trying to get the heat off himself,' Ms Erin told New Zealand news outlet Stuff on Friday.

Ms Erin said after the fainting episode, she and her friend were asked by security to go to customer service and make a complaint.

Stuff reported that the employee, who was a casual, had been suspended.

The woman involved told the outlet that she was speaking out to warn others.

'I knew there would be negative comments and people saying I shouldn't have the photo on my phone in the first place, but it's important other women know this can happen,' she said.

Ms Erin claimed that before she began filming the TikTok the employee and his manager had been 'quite aggressive' and threatened to get security involved.

'They basically gaslighted her, and made her feel as if she was in the wrong. They kept denying everything and said they hadn't been into her photos, but we just wouldn't leave until we'd got to the bottom of what had happened,' Ms Erin said.

Ms Erin said although her friend was feeling 'better' since the incident she was still 'disturbed, violated and just uncomfortable about the whole thing'.

'She's been left wondering if he's accessed any of her other photos, but wants to raise awareness about what happened,' Ms Erin said.

Ms Erin said she has since learned you don't need to share your passcode when get a phone repaired.

The Mobile Planet management team told Stuff they took 'immediate action' when informed about the incident and had notified police.

'We understand the gravity of the situation and are committed to upholding our responsibility to all parties involved,' they said.

Store management also claimed they had contacted the woman to offer their 'sincerest apologies and support during this time'.

However, Ms Erin said her friend hadn't received such a message.

Police are investigating the incident, a spokesperson told the outlet.
