Aussies divided over 'sad' salad served with $31 parmigiana at Hawthorn Hotel, Melbourne

A furious debate has erupted online after an Aussie woman complained about the 'pathetic' salad she was served at a pub.

The woman posted a video of the paltry salad which came with her $31 parmigiana, which she ordered at the Hawthorn Hotel in inner-city Melbourne on Saturday.

The salad consisted of six lettuce leaves and a few slithers of red onion.

'I'm so sorry but is this not the most pathetic 'house salad' you've ever seen at a pub?' she began in the video.

'What are you thinking? If I wanted just lettuce I'd go to Woolworths.'

The TikTok, captioned 'Hawthorn Hotel explain yourself', has since attracted 78,000 views.

The internet was divided over whether the salad was acceptable.

'That looks so sad,' one viewer commented.

Another added: 'That is actually woeful.'

A third person wrote: 'The whole baby cos.'

Some thought the salad was just a 'garnish' and added that barely anyone ate them anyway.

Others liked the look of the salad and said that they would have been 'happy' with it.

'Looks good to me, green salads are underrated,' a viewer wrote wrote.

Another added: 'It's a garnish basically, you got chips and a parmi, they're the important bits.'

One more commented: 'Nobody eats the salad.'

Daily Mail Australia contacted the Hawthorn Hotel and the woman for comment.
