Mother's warning as Georgia boy, 1, suffers horrendous burns after he pulled air fryer off counter and scalded his face

An adorable one-year-old boy from Georgia was left with severe burns after he pulled an air fryer off a counter and scalded his face.

Ryder Flanagan suffered painful burns to his hands and face on Tuesday evening after he pulled an air fryer off his family's kitchen counter 'as soon as it dinged,' his mother Abigail said.

His mother, and father, Blake quickly rushed him to Wellstar Cobb Burn Center, where he was treated with stem cells and wrapped in bandages.

Though he has since been released from the burn unit, he will need to continue treatment for his intense burns.

Abigail told DailyMail.com that the appliance was not on the edge of the counter when the accident occurred.

'He jerked the handle and the back of the air fryer basket is what hit his face,' she said.

'He has grown an inch since birth and is as big as a 2.5-year-old. I didn’t have a clue he could attempt to reach the handle.'

She added that all of his burnt skin had to be removed and replaced with stem cells to heal it.

'He is his calm/happy self, praise god,' Abigail said in a Facebook post on Friday.

On Thursday, Ryder had to be put asleep for a stem cell transplant surgery.

Stem cells have been found to help burn wounds heal faster, according to the National Library of Medicine

'The treatment is provided either as direct injections or embedded in a natural/artificial scaffold,' the agency said.

A family-friend, Carlie Mae Hester, created a GoFundMe page in honor of Ryder and his family during this challenging time.

As of Monday afternoon, the page raised more than $2,400.

'Abigail is a stay-at-home mom and Blake has been out of work here recently and will be having to miss to take Ryder for recovery appointments,' Hester wrote.

Family members and friends commented heartfelt messages under Abigail's posts as one said: 'Bless his little heart!'

'Praying for a complete recovery,' another wrote.

She told DailyMail.com that the family does not expect Ryder to endure any more surgeries and he is recovering well.

'We really appreciate everyone’s prayers and to thank anyone who has been praying for us,' Abigail added.
