Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne, Perth weather: Cold front and rain on the way

Aussies have been warned to prepare for another week of freezing temperatures due to a cold front moving across the country with rainfall on the way as well.

The Bureau of Meteorology warned the wet weather will hit southern Queensland and northern NSW on Monday afternoon.

A cold front will move in across western parts of NSW on Tuesday while a morning frost will linger over large parts of the ACT for most of the week.

Scattered showers are expected for parts of the inland areas while Western Australia will be battered by rainfall.

Senior meteorologist Miriam Bradbury told Daily Mail Australia that Perth and parts of south-west WA will experience unsettled weather.

'We are expecting a couple of cold fronts to move through in quick succession between Tuesday and Thursday,' Ms Bradbury said.

'We could see some heavy falls and damaging wind gusts'.

Elsewhere, the Northern Territory will experience mostly sunny conditions while the weather in South Australia will be dry before showers return by the end of the week.

Ms Bradbury said August is likely to experience above average temperatures.

'That's not to say we won't get further cold fronts moving through that will drop thigs back a little bit above average,' Ms Bradbury said.

'There is probably a greater likelihood of the temperature being on the milder side of things than on the cooler side'.
