Woman who hurled burrito at Chipotle staff then blamed her behavior on being a Gemini completes her very unusual punishment

An Ohio woman who launched a burrito at a Chipotle worker in a fit of rage and then blamed her behavior on being a Gemini has completed her unusual court-ordered punishment.

Rosemary Hayne, 39, was caught on camera hurling the Mexican meal at Emily Russell, 26, the store manager at a Chipotle in Parma, Cleveland, last September, because she was dissatisfied with the wait time and food.

The hot-headed customer pleaded guilty to assault in December, and Judge Timothy Gilligan ordered her to work 20 hours per week at a fast food restaurant as punishment.

Hayne told New York Magazine's Grub Street that she had never thrown food - or any other object - at anyone before, and gave a bizarre explanation as to why she made an exception for Russell.

'She pulled the Italian Gemini out of me,' Hayne said. 'I'm 40 years old and nobody's ever done that, not even my husband.'

Judge Gilligan said that Hayne's sentence 'wasn't about punishment' but 'gaining empathy'.

'You didn't get your burrito bowl the way you like it and this is how you respond?' he'd told Hayne during sentencing.

'This is not real housewives of Parma. This behavior is not acceptable.'

But the punishment does not appear to have had the desired effect.

For a start, Hayne had already worked in fast food restaurants at previous jobs, so she knew what it was like to have customers kick off over orders.

'To get that rather than have to sit in jail — amen, thank you,' Hayne told Grub Street. 'Let me go to Burger King and be their b****, for real.'

The first step was for Hayne to get a job at a fast food joint - a difficult task given she felt compelled to mention the burrito-bowl incident rather than risk them finding out via the viral video part way through the application process.

'I was completely honest with people,' she said. 'And I did get shut down probably seven times.'

Hayne was sentenced to work at a fast-food chain for two months in lieu of a prison sentence after being found guilty of one count of assault

In January this year, Hayne landed a job at a Burger King. She said she approached the job with a positive attitude, and only dealt with one rowdy customer.

The patron wanted four mozzarella sticks with eight packets of marinara sauce. When she was told she would have to pay more for the extra sauce, she objected.

Hayne's Burger King colleagues made the woman pay for extra sauce and everyone went about their day - but it appears Hayne is still prone to siding with the customer.

'If I was on the drive-through: 'Here's your eight f***ing sauces, have a nice day,' she said.

'I know that the customer is always right — whether they're wrong or not, give 'em what they want. That burger ain't costing you s***. It ain't costing that company s***.'

Hayne also defended her own outburst rather than learning from it - saying the one-minute video took the violent interaction out of context.

She said if an extended version had been caught, 'you will see me waiting for 35 minutes. You'll see me say something to Emily that's not rude or anything. You'll see her talk rude to me.'

'I wish I could post that,' she added.

Hayne said even the cops who came to her home agreed with her assessment of the fast food joint, telling her she should have ventured to the Chipotle in the next town over.

'When the police came to my house, I swear to God, the first thing they said to me was, 'You know you f***ed up by going to that Chipotle—that Chipotle is s***!' Hayne told Grub Street.

Hayne's lawyer interjected at this comment, adding that 'none of that is a defense', while Hayne agreed she was 'absolutely wrong' to launch her chicken burrito bowl.

She also revealed that the bowl contained an all-beige ensemble - white rice, chicken, sour cream, and cheese.

Russell said Chipotle was not supportive following the assault and 'it was mentally and physically getting hard'

Russell however was pleased with the sentencing.

'She didn't get a slap on the wrist, so she's gonna learn how to work in fast food and hopefully it will be good,' the Chipotle employee said.
