Internet in uproar over $80 sandwich - as some claim it's worth every penny

The internet has been left divided after a food influencer shared a video of themself tucking into a lobster sandwich priced at $80.

Philip Tzeng, known as LasVegasFill, shared a video of himself gorging on the Big Kauna lobster roll at Joe Fish Seafood Restaurant in North Andover, Massachusetts.

The decadent sandwich comes packed with 16oz of fresh lobster meat inside a bun with lettuce, mayonnaise, fries and coleslaw.

Sharing his video, Tzeng said: 'There's no graceful way to get into this one, you just get into it.'

He went on to describe the sandwich as being 'crazy good', adding that the restaurant offers 50 percent off all their lobster rolls after 8pm all summer.

Despite this caveat, social media users couldn't believe the price for the sandwich, with one describing it as 'absolutely insane' while others called it a steal.

One person commented: '$80 sandwich? That’s my whole grocery bill for the whole week.'

While another added: '$80, yeah right! That's three house payments.'

Another posted: '$80 for a damn sandwich. Hell to the Motherf***ing NO!'

Despite some viewers have a negative opinion, others said they would quickly spend the amount on it.

One user said: 'Even at $80 that's a steal'.

One upset person fired back: 'You are absolutely insane if you think that's even worth $80 and then you double down and call it a steal. That's crazy.'

Another added: 'I wouldn’t even answer the phone if my wife and kids called me while eating this. Nothing would be more important than the consumption of this delicacy.'

It comes after Chef Gordon Ramsay was on the receiving end of social media criticism for the price of his own lobster roll.

Ramsay came under fire from some would-be diners after plugging the $44 a la carte main course on sale at his bar and grill in Mayfair, west London.

One wrote: 'I have a huge respect to chef Gordon, but what the heck is that?'

Another joked: 'I'm sick of being a millionaire, what should I do with my money?'
