Notorious vegan activist Tash Peterson has candidly admitted that she enjoyed the taste of meat when she was younger in a surprising interview that divided viewers.

Ms Peterson, 30, revealed that she used to like eating 'some animal flesh' while speaking to a group of high school students on the streets of Perth last week.

During the filmed interview which was later uploaded to TikTok, she said she grew up thinking it was 'normal' to eat meat because that's what everyone else did after she was urged by the girls to tell the truth.

'Just like you guys I grew up eating animals thinking it was normal and necessary to do that,' Ms Peterson told the students.

'I don't think there's a justification to abuse and murder animals'.

Ms Peterson was caught off guard when the students asked why she wasn't aware that animals were slaughtered before she became a vegan seven years ago.

'Well of course I was aware that animals were sent to slaughterhouses for people to eat them,' she replied.

The clip ended with one of the students telling her that meat tasted good but that she respected Ms Peterson's decision.

'Vegan meat tastes good too- so stop abusing animals,' Ms Peterson added as the girl walked off.

The clip, which has been viewed more than 100,000 times, was flooded with hundreds of comments.

Many viewers accused Ms Peterson of  interviewing the teenagers just to make her own point.

'You’re taking your protest to kids knowing damn well they can’t fight properly against your argument. Interview adults and other vegans then maybe the debate is fair,' one commented.

Another added: 'Why do you only interview children?'

Others praised the students for catching Ms Peterson off guard with her questions.

'Well said young lady...you had her baffled,' one person wrote.

Some chimed in by telling Ms Peterson to respect the lifestyle choices others make.

'We aren’t pressuring you to eat meat so don’t pressure us not to eat meat!,' one person wrote.

The video was filmed before the firebrand activist and her partner Jack Higgs were kicked out of Perth's Crown Towers just hours after the couple checked into their room last weekend.

The pair were escorted from the five star hotel after being told she was permanently banned from the venue.

Ms Peterson filmed the dramatic moment security guards escorted them out of the building before the clip was shared on TikTok.

She claimed in the video that a security guard told her the ban had been in place from September 2021.

Ms Peterson is no stranger to controversy.

Earlier this month, she was banned from leaving Western Australia for six months, due a court order issued by a magistrate in the Joondalup Magistrates Court in July.

She pleaded guilty to two trespass and disorderly behaviour charges for two separate stand-offs at the Fyre restaurant in the northern Perth suburb of Connolly.

She was also hit with thousands of dollars in fines in addition to the charges.

The first incident occurred when Ms Peterson and her supporters stormed into the restaurant on June 30, 2023 before they were physically removed by restaurant staff.

She returned the following Saturday where she played footage of animals being slaughtered and the sound of pigs screeching.

Other previous antics have led police and policymakers in WA to describe her as 'Australia's biggest pest'.

Ms Peterson has copped numerous fines for her semi-nude demonstrations and protests in designer stores, restaurants and supermarkets.
