Lady Sarah Chatto celebrates 30 years of marriage to Daniel: How she stunned on big day in a Jasper Conran gown and had three matching bridesmaids -  including 13-year-old Zara Tindall

While dressed in a stunning Jasper Conran gown and aided by her bridesmaid Zara Phillips, Sarah Armstrong-Jones married her actor beau 30 years ago today.

The daughter of Princess Margaret and Lord Snowdon met actor Daniel Chatto while working with her father on the film Heat and Dust in India in 1982.

Their public appearances together began in 1986 with gallery openings and other events, before the couple announced their engagement earlier in 1994.

At their wedding in the small St Stephen Walbrook Church, near St Paul's Cathedral, Lady Sarah and Mr Chatto were honoured by the presence of close family, including the Queen, Prince Philip and Princess Margaret.

Although many eyes might have been on the warring husband and wife Prince Charles and Princess Diana - who arrived 45 seconds apart - Sarah and her stunning outfit rightly received attention too.

Sarah's gown was meticulously crafted from layers of ivory silk georgette, with a square neckline, corseted bodice and long sleeves.

It was beautifully complemented by the dresses worn by her three bridesmaids.

Besides Zara, there was Lady Sarah's half-sister Lady Frances Armstrong-Jones and her friend Tara Noble Singh.

In a break from tradition, the bride decided to wear a new tiara, rather than borrowing one from Queen Elizabeth's sought-after collection.

She commissioned Wartski to craft the dazzling Snowdon Floral Tiara using three floral diamond brooches that her father had gifted her mother in 1960 to mark their wedding.

Sarah added a pair of Manolo Blahnik heels and carried a country garden bouquet featuring old English roses.

The ceremony was attended by 200 guests and lasted just 30 minutes.

In fact, the couple's chauffeur was caught off-guard, leaving the newlyweds to stand waiting when they left the church.

The wedding took place at a turbulent time for the Royal Family, with the Queen's 'annus horribilis' of 1992 - during which both Prince Charles and Prince Andrew separated from their wives - still in memory.

Sarah and Daniel's wedding made headlines for being the first event attended by Charles and Diana, after the heir to the throne admitted on national television to having an affair with Camilla Parker Bowles.

Other senior royals in attendance included the Queen Mother, Princess Anne and Prince Edward, who was with his bride-to-be Sophie Rhys-Jones.

The reception was held at the Queen Mother's London residence, Clarence House.

The couple then fittingly spent their honeymoon in India.

Lady Sarah is known for her privacy and does not undertake official duties.

She and Daniel have two sons, Samuel, born in 1996, and Arthur, born in 1999.

Despite her significant role in the Royal Family, Sarah's 1994 marriage to Daniel Chatto was notably understated compared to other royal weddings of the time.
