The best memories for most footballers are about winning trophies and sharing that sense of achievement with team-mates.
Harry Kane has never had that experience so it’s a no-brainer in my opinion for him to take up a new challenge with Bayern Munich where he’s got the best chance to get the medals he deserves, not just domestic titles but the Champions League as well.
I understand it’s also important for strikers in particular to chase individual records and leave a legacy, but Harry has already done that by becoming the leading Tottenham and England scorer of all time, so he shouldn’t have any regrets on that count.
The idea that he should wait another year and assess his options when he’s out of contract is perplexing. I’ve read that surpassing Alan Shearer’s Premier League goals record of 260 should be a carrot to keep Kane in this country, but I’m glad it hasn’t been used by the England captain as his priority.
The reality is that record is only a list of goalscorers since 1992, not all time. If Kane did score 47 goals to match Shearer, it doesn’t alter the fact Shearer also scored goals in the old First Division, and Jimmy Greaves has a total of 357 goals in top-flight football.

The former Liverpool midfielder says winning team trophies was always more important
You only get one life and one football career and I’m sure when you’ve spent all your time at the same club there is a curiosity to see what is out there; a different culture, team-mates, living conditions. It is exciting.
While some English fans may be sniffy about the Bundesliga, Bayern are one of the best-run and impressive clubs anywhere. Kane should get five proper chances to win the Champions League.
He won’t have to worry about fitting in. His wide range of skillsets means he could transfer to any kind of football. He is wonderful physically, as intelligent as any forward on the planet, and makes and scores goals. It needn’t be disastrous for Spurs, either.
I don’t think they would have finished in the top four even with Kane so it gives Ange Postecoglou the opportunity to build.
I am sure they will go into the market for another forward but they also have Richarlison who is a player I like and will fit into Postecoglou’s energetic style of play, as well as Son Heung-min and Dejan Kulusevski.
Kane is already the record goal-scorer for both Tottenham and England and that's enough
