Germany down sodden Scots...

Jack Hendry: 'We have got to dust ourselves down'
Obviously, it's an extremely disappointing result and probably the manner that it came about. Now we've got to focus on the games coming up. Anything is possible, you can't get too downbeat. Germany are a very good team. We have got to dust ourselves down and move forward.
We'll analyse what went wrong when we get back to base camp and try and make sure that doesn't happen in the next two games. I don't think we can be too critical on ourselves given that we've got two games remaining.
As footballers, you always analyse games so for us now it's extremely important we get to the bottom of how that result came about. We'll learn from it and hopefully give a better account of ourselves in the next game. Games come quickly, this one will be swept under the carpet quite quickly.
When you go down to 10 men against a top team like Germany it's never going to be great. We have come this far because we're a strong nation. We stick together and we can't let a result like this get us down.

Julian Nagelsmann: 'I was happy with the performance'
I’m happy, I’m satisfied, it's not easy to have the first game in our own country. We were brilliant in the first 20 minutes, I was happy with the performance.
We conceded but at the end it’s okay, it’s a good sign that our players complained about conceding. I was kind of surprised that Scotland weren't that aggressive in first 20 minutes. I think they were surprised by our ball possession, it was very concentrated.
They then defended deeper and didn't high press as they have in the qualifying games at times.

Roy Keane: 'Scotland let their manager and supporters down'
Andy Robertson spoke at the end of the game and said they had a game plan. It's all well and good having a plan. He said they weren't aggressive enough. You have to be aggressive in a game of football. When you're up against opposition who are much stronger than you, being aggressive is part of being a footballer.
My goodness, when you're playing at this level, you've got to hit people. Hit them properly, hit them aggressively, do it in the right way. If you step off them like Scotland did tonight... It's no good talking after the game saying we had a game plan. It's rubbish! Andy Robertson... it's all just rubbish coming out. You knew before the game what was at stake and after the game it's no good saying "we'll regroup and be angry tomorrow." You should be angry for a long time.
They spoke before the game about creating history - they're creating history by playing as bad as that and letting their manager and supporters down. That was madness that tackle, the penalty, and the sending-off. You've got to do it in the right way. Being aggressive is part of football. Football is a physical game and they didn't lay a glove on them.

Steve Clarke: 'A disappointing night'
They showed everybody that when it comes to competitive games they're ready. Germany were outstanding and we couldn't catch them.
The first half ran away from us very quickly. We didn't give ourselves a foothold in the game. Defensively we weren't very good and with the ball, we weren't very good. A disappointing night.
The ten men in the second half were manful, worked hard, created chances, and managed to nick a goal, disappointing to lose the fifth goal in injury time.
What we need to do is still in front of us. That's what we have to focus on. Now it's all about reaction. Let's see how they react. Four points is the target in the next two games.

Andy Robertson: 'Today was hugely disappointing'
First half we just got it all wrong. Didn't really show up, weren't aggressive enough, and let good players on the ball. They had a game plan and we did and theirs worked a million times better. It wasn't because of the practice, it was because we didn't put it together on the pitch.
Second half, we're down to ten men. The lads dug in really well and we lost a sloppy goal at the end and you could have drawn the second half but it's no consolation.
Today was hugely disappointing. But you're playing the first game against the host nation and it doesn't get much tougher than that.
Their big players showed up and were excellent all over the park. They had an answer for everything. I don't think we've played to our maximum. We have to dust ourselves down We have five days to dust ourselves down and go again. We'll take tomorrow to be angry at ourselves and be disappointed and go again.

'Steve Clarke’s team haven’t managed a single shot'
The only consolation here for Scotland here is that goal difference may not count against them. If teams are tied in the group stages then the head-to-head results are used first.
So all still to play for against Switzerland and Hungary. Having said that, Steve Clarke’s team haven’t managed a single shot or corner here tonight. So something will have to change…
20:28
20:16
'Damage limitation for Steve Clarke'
It's all about damage limitation for Steve Clarke now. Striker Che Adams has been withdrawn after a night of abject frustration and running down blind alleys.
Grant Hanley in on to shore up the defence. Any hope of Scotland testing Manuel Neuer looks to have gone....

'A miserable first half for Scotland'
No one really expected Scotland to win tonight but that was a miserable first half. Germany too quick and a step ahead throughout. Scotland haven't lacked the fight but they are seriously lacking in quality.
A word too for Jamal Musiala, who is an absolute baller in case you weren't aware already. This could get messy for Scotland after the break.
19:50
'The Tartan Army would happily end this game now'
Ryan Porteous doing what Ryan Porteous does. Lunges into rash challenge on Gundogan and concedes a penalty, converted comfortably by Havertz.
Scotland will now play the second half three goals down with ten men facing the likelihood of a serious hammering. The Tartan Army would happily end this game now.
19:39
'Scotland desperately need some composure'
Steve Clarke's decision to leave Billy Gilmour out of his starting eleven will be questioned now. The Brighton midfielder has an ability to take the ball from defenders and keep it.
Scotland desperately need some composure and possession. Aiming long balls up the pitch to an isolated Che Adams won't cut it.

'This could be a long evening for Steve Clarke's side'
Angus Gunn will be disappointed that he's not kept that Florian Wirtz's strike out and Scotland have a seismic task on their hands now.
This could be a long evening for Steve Clarke's side because Germany have been absolutely dominant in possession so far.

Good omens for Scotland?
A video message from Sir Alex Ferguson on the big stadium screens. Scotland manager in Mexico in 1986 he knows how hard they've found it to win games on the big stage.
In 32 games at the World Cup and Euro finals since 1954 Scotland have only won six. Though this is the 50th anniversary of their win over Zaire on German soil at the 1974 World Cup. An omen?

'Pretty much full of white shirts'
It’s revealing to see how outnumbered the Scots are inside the Allianz Arena. There are plenty inside including many dotted around the neutral sections.
But just shows how many have come without tickets. This place – apart from one section – is pretty much full of white shirts.
18:15
Che Adams 'will be vital'
Some big calls from Steve Clarke in terms of his team selection. Scott McTominay comes back into midfield after missing both warm-up games due to a slight knock. The Manchester United man hasn’t played since the FA Cup Final last month but was Scotland’s top scorer in the qualifiers.
Che Adams gets the nod up front ahead of Lawrence Shankland and it will be vital that he holds the ball up and gets Scotland up the pitch tonight. His mobility and ability to press is a huge asset to Clarke’s side.
Ryan Christie will play just off the front and, like Adams, he offers terrific energy and is a goal threat. Billy Gilmour is the unfortunate one to miss out in midfield.
Grant Hanley has been a favourite of Clarke’s, but he has struggled with injuries this season and looked short of fitness in both warm-up matches. Ryan Porteous is given the nod ahead of Hanley at centre-back, with Celtic’s Anthony Ralston starting at right wing-back.
18:05
'Big calls from Steve Clarke'
Big calls from Steve Clarke in his team selection. As expected, Anthony Ralston plays right back, but Watford's Ryan Porteous is in for Norwich skipper Grant Hanley at the heart of defence. And Scotland's great hope Billy Gilmour sits this one out for Bournemouth's Ryan Christie.
Scott McTominay and Ryan Christie earn their 50th caps as Celtic captain Callum McGregor celebrates his 31st birthday by going toe to toe with Toni Kroos...

Graeme Souness: 'We should all say a little prayer for Alan Hansen'
He was an absolute dream for a midfield player [to play with]. Just a super football player. I believe the best footballing centre-half ever. I mean that.
Close-up, he was a real quality performer and human being. He was a great guy. He's a strange breed as you have to search a long, long way to find anybody to say a bad word about him.
He's in the fight of his life now and we should all say a little prayer for him.
17:28
John McGinn: 'We are raring to go'
Pretty calm actually, excited the same way everyone else is, but we have experienced these games before [but] we have not approached them in the right way.
Now it's about trying to forget the occasion and focus on the game. We have enough experience in there now to do that. We have been calm, we got a good rest this afternoon. We are raring to go.

Julian Nagelsmann: 'I'm a little nervous myself'
When I look into the players' eyes, I can see they want a home win in our first game. I'm really looking forward to it. It's a very nice feeling.
I'm a little nervous myself. It's a big tournament. It's a special moment to be able to lead the team and lead the country.
Scotland are a very good team with a lot of flair. They play a lot of crosses and are very dangerous. Their players give everything and throw themselves into every challenge – that's the Scottish mentality.
16:29
'Munich is Scottish.'
I’ve spent the day around Munich and let me tell you, it is a proper Scottish takeover. From Marienplatz to the Olympiapark to the ground, the Tartan Army are everywhere in their kilts and with their bagpipes.
We’ve spoken to teachers, plumbers, students, the lot who have made their way here by plane, train, and car. No one was missing this. An estimated four per cent of the Scottish population is out here!
This might be Germany’s home tournament but for today, Munich is Scottish. And if Steve Clarke’s side somehow pull off a result, tonight could be epic. Roll on Euro 2024.
16:20
Steve Clarke: 'We've waited a long time to be ready for this'
The occasion will be for everybody else. For both sets of coaching staff and players, it's about the game, it's about how the game pans out. Germany will want to win, we want to win, everyone else can enjoy the occasion.
My family's here, they're going to enjoy the occasion and hopefully they enjoy the match as well. We've prepared. We've waited a long time to be ready for this. We've worked hard in preparation and hopefully you'll see the results of that on the pitch.
