Joe Hart's bizarre 'armour' tattoo is slated by fans on social media as the former England No 1 shows off his ink as he reports pitchside for BBC at Euro 2024 opener

Fans have slated Joe Hart's tattoos as the former England goalkeeper carried out punditry duties at Euro 2024.

The now-retired star took to the microphone on BBC's coverage of the Three Lions' opening game of the tournament, showing off his designs that he received a number of years ago.

Now 37, Hart revealed some of his bizarre inkwork on his Instagram account five years ago.

He already had hoops around his wrists and ankles, and it was the wrist tattoos who left fans both puzzled and shocked on television screens on Sunday night.

Speaking to Kelly Somers pre-match, Hart had a large section of his armour-style tattoo on show, leaving fans shocked as they took to social media to voice their views on the design.

'Outrageous tattoos from Joe Hart,' one viewer wrote on X, formerly Twitter. 'He looks like a zebra crossing for goodness sake.'

'Joe Hart comfortably having the worst tattoos you've ever seen,' another wrote.

A third posted: 'The state of Joe Hart’s tattoos.'

Hart, thanked artist Hanu Mantra for the work when he revealed his newest tattoos in 2019, uploading two pictures of a bold black body armour tattoo, which covers his right shoulder and upper arm.

Alongside the unusual tattoo pictures, Hart did acknowledge that not everyone would like it but insisted it 'represents' him.

Hart captioned his post: 'You are the man @hanumantra thank you, this is the only time of year I could take this on so I appreciate you fitting me in and smashing it!!

'I got my armour on now... let's see what's next. Not everyone's taste I understand that but this definitely represents me and thank you for making it happen.'

The former Premier League winner had the rings on his arm inked in 2017, and didn't stop there as he continued to add to his body.

The likes of Paulo Dybala and Sergio Ramos don similar designs.

It wasn't all criticism on Sunday, however, with one fan posting: 'Love the creativity with Joe Hart’s tattoos,' accompanied by a fire emoji.

Another, however, posted: 'What the hell has Joe Hart done. Please tell me that these are not tattoos omg,' while another wrote: 'Can anyone tell me what possessed Joe Hart to get those terrible tattoos done??'
