Dani Olmo joins two Spain team-mates and a surprise goalkeeper in Sofascore's BEST XI of Euro 2024 - as ZERO English players make the cut ahead of Sunday's final

There's just one game remaining of Euro 2024 and Sofascore have revealed their team of the tournament so far in terms of average match rating. 

It's been a tournament where the biggest names haven't quite delivered while new stars have announced themselves on the world stage.

Although England meet Spain in Sunday's final, hoping to finally end the wait for a major trophy, no member of Gareth Southgate's side features in the XI.

The Three Lions haven't played the best football on their way to the showpiece in Berlin and that is reflected by Sofascore's XI.

So, who makes the cut? Mail Sport takes a look at Sofascore's side, lining up in a 4-2-3-1 formation.

Goalkeeper: Giorgi Mamardashvili 

Interestingly, the highest rated player in the XI comes from an unlikely source.

Goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili had an average score of 8.15 over Georgia's four matches.

The relative minnows conceded just two goals in three games, even keeping a clean sheet against Portugal.

Their run was also ended by Spain, who ran out 4-1 winners in their last-16 clash.

Defenders: Joshua Kimmich, Antonio Rudiger, Jaka Bijol, Marc Cucurella

Chelsea full-back Marc Cucurella (7.60) has been pivotal in Spain's run to the final, impressing after a less than perfect campaign at Stamford Bridge under Mauricio Pochettino, where the Blues finished sixth in the league.

Cucurella joins two stars he knocked out of the tournament at the quarter-final stage in Germany's Joshua Kimmich (7.74) and Antonio Rudiger (7.30), who both enjoyed great starts to Euro 2024 before their country's exit.

Another surprise name to make the list is Slovenian centre-half Jaka Bijol (7.45), who did superbly to frustrate England to a 0-0 stalemate in Group C before doing the same to Cristiano Ronaldo's Portugal in their last-16 defeat on penalties.

Midfielders: Toni Kroos, Bernardo Silva, Fabian Ruiz, Dani Olmo, Kevin De Bruyne 

Fabian Ruiz has caught the eye throughout the competition and is one of just two men in the XI with an average rating above eight out of ten (8.02).

The PSG man has contributed two goals and two assists so far and is joined by team-mate Dani Olmo (7.94).

Olmo has been another of Spain's leading lights with two goals and three assists - even though he only started one of their first four games. 

Toni Kroos (7.76) impressed in his swansong tournament in football, having vowed to retire from the game with both Germany and Real Madrid this summer. 

Rounding out the midfield is Manchester City pair Kevin De Bruyne (7.78) and Bernardo Silva (7.68), who showed their class once again for Belgium and Portugal respectively. 

Both men found the net in Germany but will have left disappointed with Portugal exiting in the quarters and Belgium in the last-16.

Forwards: Cody Gakpo

Somewhat less surprisingly, one of the tournament's top scorers leads the line.

Cody Gakpo (7.73) netted three goals during the Netherlands' run to the last four and will share the Golden Boot if neither Olmo or Harry Kane score in the final, with six players currently tied on the same amount.

The Dutchman will hope to bring his fine form in front of goal to Anfield ahead of the upcoming Premier League campaign, with new Liverpool boss Arne Slot still yet to decide on his preferred starting XI.
