Alvaro Morata is in talks to join AC Milan in £10.9m move from Atletico Madrid... as the Spain captain looks to sort his club future just hours after guiding Spain to Euro 2024 glory

Spain captain Alvaro Morata is in talks to join AC Milan in a £10.9million move.

The 31-year-old former Chelsea striker has been hugely influential working within Spain's relatively young squad as he led them towards the European Championship title but has not been a popular figure with supporters owing to his lack of goals.

Manchester United and Saudi Arabian clubs had also shown varying degrees of interest in the Atletico Madrid forward but further negotiations are expected with Milan who have shown a willingness to meet his release clause.

Though a deal is not yet agreed talks are continuing.

Morata first made his name at Real Madrid where he spent four seasons at the Bernabeu before joining Juventus in 2014.

Two years in the Serie A saw him catch Chelsea's eye, which saw the Spaniard make the jump to the Premier League in 2017, following a brief return at Real.

Morata struggled to impress at Stamford Bridge after moving to the Blues for a whopping £65m.

After 24 goals in 72 appearances, Atletico came calling and Morata return to the Spanish capital, albeit with Real's local rivals this time round.

He netted 21 goals in 48 games last season for Diego Simeone side but capped off the summer in Sunday's Euro 2024 final with a European Championship winners' medal around his neck.
