Former Wales striker Dean Saunders left his car in a short stay car park at Birmingham Airport as he did not expect to stay in France for Euro 2016 for as long as he has.
Since his country are now in the quarter-final of the tournament, due to play Belgium at the Grand Stade Lille Metropole stadium on Friday night, his car parking bill is growing by £100 a day and is already expected to top £1,000.
A whip-round has now been started to help pay the 52-year-old's fine after Wales' unexpected success at their first-ever European Championship meant he has had to stay on with the BBC.

The former Liverpool, Aston Villa and Galatasaray striker is part of the broadcaster's punditry team for the tournament for Wales' matches, alongside host Gary Lineker.
Saunders is said to have never expected Wales to make it out of the pool stages, let alone top Group B and then beat their last-16 opponents [who turned out to be Northern Ireland] to come within one game of the last-four.
Richard Jackson, Wales manager Chris Coleman's brother-in-law, has now started a crowdfunding campaign which aims to raise £1,200 to help Saunders with his fine.
Jackson said the JustGiving page was set up 'for a bit of fun', but if the BBC covered Saunders' fee, any money raised would go to the Football Association of Wales' grassroots football programme instead.

'It would only be a small profit, but anything commercial that brings money into grassroots football in this country is a positive thing. It needs some decent funding. Maybe this is a good way to raise awareness of that,' he said.
Saunders has also run out of clothes in Paris.
'I tell you how confident I was with Wales. I parked in the short-stay car park at Birmingham Airport two weeks ago,' he told BBC Radio Five Live.
'I took a little suitcase that fitted onto the plane so I've run out of clothes and now I'm going to have a £1,000 bill when I get back to Birmingham because they charge you a fortune.
'But I'm just happy to be here.'
