CHRIS SUTTON: Tottenham's Harry Kane and Son Heung-min are going to beat mine and Alan Shearer's record for goal contributions in a season - and I don't mind passing the mantle over to such a special pair. Not one bit
- Harry Kane and Son Heung-Min scored as Spurs beat Arsenal 2-0 on Sunday
- The Tottenham pair have now combined 11 times in the league this season
- Chris Sutton and Alan Shearer have the most goal combinations (13) in a season
Harry Kane and Son Heung-min have combined for 11 goals in 2020-21, and only two pairs have bettered that in Premier League history.
Ryan Fraser and Callum Wilson combined 12 times for Bournemouth in 2018-19, while Alan Shearer and some chap called Chris Sutton did it 13 times for Blackburn in 1994-95.
Kane and Son are going to beat mine and Al’s record this season, and I don’t mind passing the mantle over to such a special pair. Not one bit.
Harry Kane and Son Heung-Min combined for the 10th and 11th time this term against Arsenal
Alan Shearer (L) and Chris Sutton (R) have the most goal combinations in a single season (13)
This is a thrilling duo to watch. The best we’ve seen in a single Premier League season? I’m beginning to believe that is the case.
Thinking back to other iconic duos — Andy Cole and Dwight Yorke for Manchester United in 1998-99; Thierry Henry and Dennis Bergkamp for Arsenal in 2003-04; Luiz Suarez and Daniel Sturridge for Liverpool in 2013-14 — these two are right up there.
Kane and Son are a dream for Jose Mourinho. So creative, so clinical. Kane is unselfish and drops deep, like Bergkamp used to do, to serve his team-mates.
They’re on 11 goals after 11 Premier League games, and we’ll see plenty more combinations from them this season, I’m sure.

Including corners, Arsenal had 44 crosses — the most of any side in a PL game this season.
Only Leeds and West Ham have had more in total in 2020-21. Yet they don’t have an Alan Smith to aim at, someone who knows how to attack the ball. It seems a wasted tactic.
