Mystery blonde woman in Latrell Mitchell's white powder photo is revealed as footy star's mother is dragged into scandal

  • The mystery blonde woman in the Latrell Mitchell pic has been unmasked
  • Amy Brown said she was the person snapped in the 'white powder' photo
  • She said on Facebook that she 'likes to have a bit of fun and do bags'

The identity of the blonde woman in a photo that appears to show Latrell Mitchell with an unidentified white powder has been revealed - as she got into an online clash over who leaked the image.

Amy Brown wrote the following message on Facebook after the scandal broke on Monday: 'Disappointed that they got my bad side. Done me dirty.'

She appears in the foreground of the image, which seems to show South Sydney star Mitchell bending over white powder on a table and holding his left hand up to his face.

Souths reported the image to the NRL Integrity Unit and confirmed it came from Mitchell's trip to the country NSW town of Dubbo last weekend, where he undertook community work and appeared at a coaching clinic.

Daily Mail Australia does not suggest the white substance is an illicit drug.

The NRL quizzed Mitchell about the image on Tuesday as he remains sidelined with a foot injury that could see him miss the rest of the season.

Brown - who lives and works in the NSW town of Lightning Ridge around 350km north of Dubbo, according to her Facebook profile - has been engaged in a war of words with Dubbo locals who accused her of leaking the photo to the media.

She has strongly denied the allegations and said she 'didn't even know that the picture existed' until it was shown to her until last Sunday.

In a Facebook post on Thursday, Brown wrote: 'I like to have a bit of fun and do bags when I go out.'

'Bags' is a common slang term referring to small bags of cocaine or other illegal drugs that come in powdered form.

Daily Mail Australia has contacted Brown for comment.

The mother of Cronulla star Braydon Trindall, Kerri Cochrane, was also dragged into the scandal when she was accused of leaking the photo that has led to the investigation.

A Facebook user called 'Maddison Smith' posted a screenshot of what purported to be a Snapchat message which contained the viral picture of Mitchell with the caption 'not Trell mitt on the bags in Dubbo' with two laughing emojis.

Cochrane has denied the claim, insisting that someone used her name to create a fake Snapchat profile to distribute the image.

As if I would do such a f***in thing (leak the photo),' Cochrane said on Facebook.

'TBH idgaf (I don't give a f***) what Latrell Mitchell does or anyone else for that matter and I don't need to ruin someone's life and footy career to make a quick buck.'

Daily Mail Australia does not suggest either Cochrane or Trindall were with Mitchell when the photo was taken.

Mitchell has kept a low profile since the photo circulated online, but his advisor Matt Rose revealed the footy star's mental state.

'Latrell is doing OK,' he told 7News on Tuesday.

'Yeah, I mean, at this stage under NRL rules he can't make any comment.'

The photo is understood to have been taken in Dubbo last weekend, where Mitchell was helping lead a women's football clinic.

'Has he had a chance to actually speak to the integrity unit yet to explain himself? That's all happening at the moment,' Rose said.

'Once that's finished he'll be able to speak to you then.'

Mitchell's NSW Blues teammate Jarome Luai discussed the subject after training on Tuesday.

'I think it's a pretty touchy subject when you start talking about that stuff,' Luai said.

'I think reflecting on it I just wanna make sure personally that I'm doing the right thing and I have a positive message for my audience.

'All the best to him. I'm sure he's feeling really remorseful on what's happened.'
