Jonathan Owens gushes over wife Simone Biles in Paris after leading Team USA triumph: 'Gold medal baby!'

Jonathan Owens did not hold back on cheerleader duties as his wife and USA gymnastics legend Simone Biles led her team to the top of the podium on Tuesday.

Team USA secured gold at the artistic gymnastics group finals in Paris, topping rivals Italy and Brazil.

With Biles at her show-stopping best, the Americans' total of 171.296 was well clear of the runners-up and the exclamation point of a yearlong run in which Biles has cemented her legacy as the greatest ever in her sport and among the best in the history of the Olympics.

Hours after the win, Owens posted pictures with Biles as celebrations continued. The pair posed as he wore his wife's medal. They also snapped a celebratory kiss in the second slide.

'Witnessing history every time you step on the mat,' Owens wrote. 'Congrats baby on becoming the most decorated American gymnast in Olympic history!!!!'

After parting ways with the Green Bay Packers, Owens joined the Chicago Bears - who gave the St. Louis native the green light to fly to France as the rest of the team head into preseason.

Owens was previously criticized by the masses for claiming he was the 'catch' in their pairing and admitting to not being aware of Biles' notoriety until they met on the dating app Raya during the pandemic.

Nonetheless, Biles was quick to shake off the noise and block out the negativity from the public. As for Owens, he was his bride's No 1 hype man as she returned to the world stage following her withdrawal from the Tokyo Games in 2021.

Eight years after winning gold in Rio with a group that called Aly Raisman grandma because she was all of 22, Biles - now 27 and married - was back again with Jade Carey (24), Jordan Chiles (23), Suni Lee (21) and teenager Hezly Rivera at her side.

'We don´t have to be put in the box anymore,' Biles said.

Biles now has a staggering 38 medals in major international competitions. Eight of those have come under the Olympic rings, moving her past Shannon Miller for the most by an American gymnast.

'She's the greatest of all greats,' said Chiles, who now has gold to go with the team silver she, Lee and Biles earned in Tokyo.
